In 1956, Indonesia’s newly independent government purchased the property and converted it into a hotel. It became one of the earliest state-owned hotels on the island. This makes Inna Sindhu Beach more than a place to stay: it is part of the early history of modern tourism in Bali. ### Tandjung Sari Tandjung Sari occupies a beachfront position on Sanur Beach. Its name means “Cape of Flowers”, and the resort has a particularly important place in the history of Sanur. Opened in 1962, it was one of the first resorts built in Sanur and one of the earliest boutique hotels in Southeast Asia. Indonesian antique dealer Wija Waworuntu originally built it as his private residence. After falling in love with the location, he expanded the property and began welcoming the first travellers who were discovering Bali. Tandjung Sari offers a glimpse into the period when Sanur was becoming one of the island’s first destinations for international visitors. ### Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites is a four-star hotel on Sanur’s main bypass road. It opened in 1996 as the Radisson Bali, part of the American Carlson Hotels group, and was built with its sister property, Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur, further north along the same road. When the Radisson chain left Indonesia in 2003, both hotels became part of Prime Plaza Hotels and Resorts. The property was known for a time as Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel & Suites before adopting its current name in 2017. Its defining feature is that all 84 rooms are suites, arranged across four floors. The accommodation ranges from one-bedroom suites to three-bedroom units, making the hotel especially associated with longer stays.
