Congregation Emanu-El

Dating back to an 1859 cemetery dedication and an 1863 synagogue construction, this is the oldest synagogue building still in use as a synagogue in Canada. Designed by architect John Wright during the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush, it is the oldest surviving synagogue on Vancouver Island and the west coast of North America.

Situated in downtown Victoria, this gallery has been a cornerstone of contemporary Northwest Coast art for over four decades, representing leading Indigenous artists with collections of fine prints, paintings, carvings, sculptures, and textiles.
