The idea for the museum came from Rais Yatim, who served as Malaysia’s Minister for Culture, Arts and Heritage. Construction took place in 2005, and the museum officially opened on 2 February 2008. The opening was carried out by Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Mohamad Hasan and Rais Yatim.
