International Surfing Museum

The International Surfing Museum is devoted to preserving the history of surfing culture around the world. Its collection brings together historic surfboards, legendary surfers, classic surf films, sculptures, and surf music, offering a broad look at the sport and the culture surrounding it.

The museum was established in 1987 by Ann Beasley and Natalie Kotsch. It moved from Walnut Street to 411 Olive Avenue in June 1990. In 1998, both founders were added to the museum’s Honor Roll in recognition of their contributions to surfing and its culture.

The museum’s story is still evolving. In March 2026, the city council approved moving it into extra space in the library building. That planned move represents another chapter in the history of this non-profit institution and its mission to preserve surfing’s global heritage.

Warner Avenue Baptist Church

Warner Avenue Baptist Church is one of Huntington Beach’s oldest surviving structures. Its simple wood-frame form reflects the early history of the area, while its connection to the former Wintersburg Village gives the building added historical importance.

Founded in 1906, the church is now one of the last remaining remnants of Wintersburg Village. It provides a different perspective on Huntington Beach, away from the city’s surfing identity and toward the communities and buildings that shaped its earlier history.
