Built during the Qing Dynasty by Zhang Jingxiu, construction finished in 1850; the garden was later expanded and rebuilt several times. Zhang Jingxiu’s interests—calligraphy, painting, chess, poetry, antique collecting and unusual stones—turned Keyuan into a gathering place for scholars, poets and artists.

Central Square Station
Central Square Station is a metro stop on Dongguan Rail Transit Line 1, serving the Central Square area. It is also known as Central Square, Dongguan Library or 东莞市图书馆. The station stands in Nancheng Subdistrict at the crossing of Hongfu Road and Shizhu Road, on the east side of Central Square, and opened when Line 1 began service on November 28 2025.
Dong River
The Dong River is a major waterway of the Pearl River system. It flows through Dongguan, linking the city to a broader river landscape that stretches across Jiangxi and Guangdong for about 523 kilometres. The river originates at Mount Yajibo in Xunwu County, Jiangxi, passes through Longchuan, Heyuan, Huizhou and Dongguan, and empties into the South China Sea via the Pearl River estuary.
