This Neolithic megalithic monument has been protected as a historic monument since 1889 and belongs to the municipality of Brantôme en Périgord.

The monument stands on the north side of the Dronne, near Rue Peyrelevade. Its burial chamber is unusually tall, with an interior height of about two and a half metres. A sandstone capstone rests horizontally on three upright stones; it is approximately five metres long, 2.9 metres wide and 1.4 metres thick. A fourth supporting stone was added towards the end of the nineteenth century to help stabilise the structure.

The dolmen’s prehistoric construction and later reinforcement make it a striking example of a monument maintained across different periods of history.
