Benoa, Indonesia: Self-Guided Walking Tour

Things to do in Benoa: what to see on Bali’s coast

The best things to do in Benoa are exploring its coastal points and the small island of Nusa Pudut. Tanjung Benoa and Tanjung Tengkulung offer a look at Bali’s flat, open shoreline, while Nusa Pudut lies just offshore. Neywo has a free audio guide for Benoa with 3 narrated places.

What to see in Benoa

Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoa is a coastal peninsula in Bali, with flat land opening directly onto the sea to the east. It lies about 11.5 kilometres south of Denpasar, making the capital a useful reference point for understanding its location.

The peninsula is notable for the contrast between its coastal setting and its landscape. Sandy beaches are relatively rare in this immediate area, so the shoreline does not match the image of a continuous beach coast. To the southwest, around eight kilometres away, Bukit Memedi rises to 158 metres above sea level, the highest point in the surrounding region.

Nusa Pudut

Nusa Pudut is a small island off the coast of Badung Regency, in the southern part of Bali. Its position just offshore makes it one of the coastal places to include when exploring Benoa and the surrounding shoreline.

The island is part of Bali’s wider coastal landscape, where the sea and low-lying land define the character of the area. Its location also places Benoa within the broader setting of Bali, an island in Indonesia.

Tanjung Tengkulung

Tanjung Tengkulung is a coastal point on the southern side of Bali, around 12 kilometres south of Denpasar. The land is flat and open, with the sea extending to the east.

As at Tanjung Benoa, beaches are relatively uncommon along this stretch of coast. Tanjung Tengkulung is therefore best understood as a coastal viewpoint and geographical landmark rather than a typical sandy beach destination.
